My PhD project focuses on myeloid cell populations in atherosclerosis. I use multiplex imaging and high content analysis techniques to explore phenotypes and functionomics of myeloid cells in order to identify cell populations that we can target with diagnostic and therapeutic antibodies.

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University in 2022, after which I pursued a master in Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University. In this master, I followed the specialization track in immunology and host defense and performed an internship at the pathology department under the supervision of Dr. Pieter Goossens, investigating phenotypes of myeloid populations in a model of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I performed my second master’s internship at the Institute of Experimental Immunology at the University of Zurich, where I studied microglial TGF-β signalling in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease. As of November 2024, I am working as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Erik Biessen, Dr. Pieter Goossens and Dr. Marjo Donners.
